How Persify's Live Preview Works on Etsy

Because of Etsy’s policies, third-party applications such as Persify cannot change your Etsy storefront or add personalization fields directly on the Etsy product page. Instead, Persify provides an alternative personalization experience, where buyers customize their design before they complete the checkout.

What Is a Live Preview?

A live preview is a real-time design display created by combining:

  • Mockup image – your product photo
  • Artwork – your personalized design template

How Live Preview Works on Etsy

  • After you create a live preview in Persify, the system generates a Live Preview Link.
  • You add this link to your Etsy listing, and buyers will use it to personalize the product before placing an order.

You can read the guide here: How to Create a Live Preview for Etsy in Persify

  1. Add the Live Preview Link to your Etsy listing

Paste the link into your product description or your personalization instructions.

  1. Buyers open the link and personalize the product

They customize the design and then click Done.

  1. Persify generates a unique Customization ID

After clicking Done, buyers will see a Customization ID. They click Copy & Go back to Etsy.

  1. Buyers return to Etsy and paste the ID

They paste the Customization ID into the Personalization box on your Etsy listing.

  1. Persify creates the print-ready file automatically

After the buyer completes their order using the live preview, Persify will read the Customization ID and automatically generate the final print-ready file for you.

To auto-generate print files when buyers personalize through Live Preview, follow this guide: How to Automatically Render Print Files for Live Preview

Important Notes

Persify may not be able to match the buyer’s customization when:

  • The pasted Customization ID is invalid
  • The buyer forgets to paste the Customization ID into Etsy

In these situations, Persify cannot identify the correct customization. The order will sync to Persify with the buyer’s text note, and you can manually adjust the design based on that note.
